everdell worker-placement nature cards karty

Released in 2018, the Everdell board game attracts both beginner players and die-hard fanatics of all kinds of game genres. Is it a really good game or just a nicely presented average game? Please see my short review and opinion on this intriguing game. 📜 Game flow / rules
For start, prepare the game board, divided into places that can be visited by our workers to collect resources or perform appropriate actions, creature and building cards, and additional event cards and tokens that give us more victory points.

An eternal tree "grows" at the top of the board to describe the seasons transition, holding unlock-able workers and special event cards.

The course of the game itself is quite intuitive. During our turn, we may put a worker on a place marked with a pet's paw 🐾 or play a card to our (or opponent's 😈) town. Cards in our town are divided into several types and usually provide us with additional bonuses, such as victory points, resources and special actions.

When we no longer have workers or resources or cards to play, we are left with the transition to the next season. Then we collect all workers played so far and performs the action written in the tree's crown. For example, the first pass "Spring" gives you one worker and allows you to redo actions from cards with a green leaf 🌿 that you played.

The game continues until all players have passed during the last available season (fall). Then all the victory points that are provided by cards, tokens and those collected by our workers are counted.

Everdell also allows you to play a single player, so for people whose wife would rather watch plants grow than play with you 😑.

In the single-player game, we play against a grumpy rodent named Rugwort, who will be returning to Everdell every year, which are 3 different games with increasing difficulty! During the game, the player performs Rugwort moves which are determined by the instruction and an 8-sided cube.

🤔 Gameplay impressions
From the very first game I am in love with Everdell, with the gameplay and the visuals. I recommend playing the game with relaxing music, necessarily with a fantasy theme. It's hard to find another such a beautiful game. The tiny and cute resources themselves make the game more fun. I am glad that the authors did not use "dry" tokens to replace them.

The insert allows you to segregate most of the elements, although it is a pity that there is only one recess for the raw materials, it is better to keep them in string pouches than loose, it is simply easier to prepare the game then.

The cards are made of better quality material, but "just in case" I recommend putting them in sleeves, it would be a pity if anything would spill over these beautiful illustrations and spoil them.

What damages the whole picture of beauty the most is the Eternal Tree. It is really impressive, but with constant folding and unfolding, it can delaminate, so I advise you to be careful or play without it.

When me and Małgosa start game, we usually want to relax rather than crush the opponent and win the game. Introducing new players is quick, the rules are clear, everything you need to know is right on the board. Personally, however, I cannot imagine sitting alone with it. The game, despite all its charm and beauty, is more attractive if you can play it with someone else.

☺️ Summary
This is one of those games that, when choosing "what we play", does not scream from the shelf, but rather calmly invites you to take a breath in the Everdell forest.

A game aims at least two players. Single player gameplay.. nice that it is, but it's just lacking. The rules are easy to learn, in fact it is enough to present an example turn and the game is spinning. I also recommend that you turn on some quiet, relaxing music, in a fantasy atmosphere, for each game.

We can no longer imagine that it would not appear on our table from time to time, our definite "must have" and we recommend it to anyone who is considering buying it.
